Terms & Conditions

Reservation & Cancellation Policies

Flight-Related Cancellations

We do not offer refunds for cancellations caused by flight delays, flight cancellations, or similar travel disruptions. These situations are beyond our control, and once a booking is confirmed, we reserve your space and decline other booking requests.

Payment Policy

Payment terms are determined by the individual boat operator. By completing a booking, the customer agrees to the payment conditions specific to their selected tour.

Weather Cancellations

The safety of our guests and crew is our top priority.
We do not cancel tours simply because it rains.
If we determine that weather conditions would make the tour unsafe, the trip will be cancelled.
In such cases, your tour will be refunded in full, and we will be happy to reschedule your experience for another available date.

Deposit / Finder’s Fee

Your deposit (Finder’s Fee) is non-refundable. This fee secures your booking and covers the service of arranging the best available tour provider for your date and needs.

Please note that the remaining balance is paid directly to the boat company operating your tour. These are typically independent, trusted boat owners selected for quality and service.

Cancellation Policy (Client-Initiated)

72+ hours before the tour: Full refund of the balance (deposit is non-refundable).
48–72 hours before the tour: A 50% charge of the remaining balance applies.
24–48 hours before the tour: No refund of the remaining balance.
Less than 24 hours or No-Show: 100% charge of the remaining balance.

Force Majeure (Acts of God)

If a tour must be cancelled due to extreme weather or any situation beyond our control, we will gladly reschedule your tour to a new available date.

Important Information About Our Role and Safety Policies

Sailing Guanacaste acts solely as an intermediary tourism agency, connecting guests with trusted boat operators and independent vessel owners. We partner only with providers who we believe offer high-quality boats, experienced crews, well-designed tour programs, and exceptional onboard service.

Liability & Insurance

All liability and operational insurance is the responsibility of the boat owner/operator. Sailing Guanacaste does not provide insurance and is not liable for any incidents, accidents, or injuries that may occur during your tour.

We strongly encourage guests to verify onboard safety measures upon boarding—such as life vests, safety equipment, and the presence of support or tender boats—so you feel fully comfortable before departure.

Guests are also encouraged to inform the crew of any food allergies, medical conditions, or special concerns prior to or at the start of the tour to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Confirming Insurance With Your Captain

For your peace of mind, you may ask the boat captain directly about the insurance coverage they carry. Most operators will have:
Liability Insurance: Covers incidents that occur on the vessel.
Tour Operator Insurance: May cover additional services beyond the boat itself.
We highly recommend confirming these details before setting sail.

Reporting Incidents

If an injury or safety-related issue occurs, it must be reported immediately to the captain. By law, insurance cannot be applied to any incident that was not officially reported at the time it occurred.

Our Service Fee / Deposit

Our deposit (Finder’s Fee) is a professional service fee that allows us to secure your reservation with your chosen vessel. We maintain one of the largest and most reliable networks of boat operators in Costa Rica, and our role is to match you with the best possible catamaran or sailing experience for your needs.
